Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Prime Video and HBO Max are refreshing their catalogues in August 2026 with new seasons, original films and literary adaptations. The headline release is the second and final part of "One Hundred Years of Solitude," the adaptation of Gabriel Garcia Marquez's novel, alongside new instalments of "Ted Lasso," "Reacher" and "Dark Matter."

"One Hundred Years of Solitude" returns for its second and last season on August 5 with eight episodes. Set after the signing of an armistice, the story follows the Buendia family as peace continues to elude the town of Macondo. The new season covers the arrival of Fernanda del Carpio, the expansion of the railroad and the arrival of the banana company, all of which shape the town's future.
"My Life with the Walter Boys" comes back for a third season on August 5 with ten episodes, picking up after Jackie and Cole admitted their feelings for each other in front of Alex. The new episodes follow the fallout of that love triangle as the Walter family also deals with its own personal and domestic troubles.
Later in the month, on August 28, Netflix premieres the miniseries "Toda la verdad de mis mentiras," based on the novel by Elisabet Benavent. It follows a bachelorette getaway during which two friends try to hide the feelings that really bind them.
Also arriving August 28 is "Susurran tu nombre," starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan and Adam Scott. The film follows a widowed father and his son as they confront a disappearance tied to the resurgence of a serial killer's modus operandi.
Apple TV+
"Ted Lasso" returns for a fourth season on August 5 with ten episodes. Jason Sudeikis reprises the optimistic coach, who this time takes charge of a women's second-division football team, with the show keeping its focus on teamwork, personal growth and facing setbacks with positivity.
"Las Azules" premieres its second season on August 12, continuing the story of four women who make up Mexico's first all-female police unit. In the new season they investigate a case tied to the 1968 student massacre.
"Dark Matter" returns for a second season on August 28. Based on the novel by Blake Crouch, the series follows Jason Dessen as he again confronts alternate realities, blending science fiction, drama and suspense.

"The Shards" premieres on August 6 with ten episodes. Set in Los Angeles in the 1980s, it follows students at an elite high school whose lives change when a new classmate arrives, while a serial killer terrorises the city, mixing mystery, suspense and teen drama.
The third season of "Wizards Beyond Waverly Place" arrives August 5 with four episodes. Billie sets out on a mission to rescue Alex Russo with help from Justin Russo and the rest of the family. The season marks the return of Selena Gomez as Alex and also her directorial debut, helming the premiere episode.

"Caminando con el Diablo" arrives August 14. The psychological thriller, set in rural Spain in the 1980s, follows Miguel and Alicia, a couple marked by the disappearance of their son Gabriel, exploring the grief, guilt and emotional fallout of a family tragedy.
"Reacher" returns for a fourth season on August 12. The series follows Jack Reacher, a former military police officer, through new investigations and dangers, and is based on the novels by Lee Child.
The third season of "Betty, la fea: mas fea que nunca" premieres August 28, reuniting the Ugly Betty ensemble known as El Cuartel de las Feas and bringing back characters including El Frances and Roman, extending one of Latin American television's most popular franchises.
Also on August 28, "Barreda" dramatises one of Argentina's most shocking crimes: the case of Ricardo Barreda, a dentist who killed his wife, his mother-in-law and his two daughters in 1992.
HBO Max
"Linternas," a new series set in DC's Green Lantern universe, premieres August 17. It follows John Stewart and Hal Jordan as they work to solve a major mystery while protecting the universe.
The Spanish film "Los Justos" arrives August 30. It follows nine members of a citizen jury who receive a secret offer: one million euros each if they change their vote in a controversial corruption case.
