Nicole Kidman gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the set of Susanne Bier's sequel Practical Magic 2, which hits US and UK theaters on September 11.
The 59-year-old Oscar winner, who has 26 million Instagram and Facebook followers, posted a 20-photo slideshow last Friday captioned "Just a little magic!"
In one shot, Kidman stands atop "the roof" of the Owens family's Victorian-style Massachusetts house with an umbrella in hand, alongside co-stars Joey King, Maisie Williams and Sandra Bullock.
Kidman, who was born in Hawaii and is Australian, was wired up and ready to jump as she shared a candid moment with King, who plays her character Gillian's niece Kylie. In the comments, King, a 27-year-old Emmy nominee, wrote "Aunt Gilly!"
Kidman also shared behind-the-scenes footage of herself shooting a midnight margarita scene with Bullock's character Sally and their onscreen aunt caretakers, played by Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing. Bullock is 62.
The sequel's plot
The film is set 25 years after the original and centers on Kylie developing her own dark abilities to fix the family's centuries-long curse after her boyfriend, played by Xolo Maridueña, dies in a bicycle accident in London.
According to the film's logline, the Owens women must once again unite, traveling from their home in Massachusetts to the United Kingdom to confront the source of their magic and save the next generation of their family.
The sequel is adapted from Alice Hoffman's 2021 story The Book of Magic.
King on working with Kidman and Bullock
King told People last month that Kidman and Bullock are the best duo ever. She said she and Kidman worked together a few years ago on a movie where Kidman played her mother, and that they became close. She said she is a huge fan of Kidman and is in awe of her, calling her the nicest person ever.
King said Bullock takes her and her co-stars under her wing like daughters, and that it is special to have the bond they've kept since making that earlier film together. She said Bullock sends them voice notes all the time and is always hyping them up, calling her the sweetest and saying "they're the best."
In the comments section, Lindsay Lohan posted a red heart emoji, showing she is a fan of the films. An Instagram user with the handle @valientepapi commented that all that was missing was Stevie Nicks singing.
Background on the franchise
Kidman and Bullock executive produced the Warner Bros. Pictures film, which also features Lee Pace and Solly McLeod.
The original 1998 film, Practical Magic, was directed by Griffin Dunne and based on Alice Hoffman's 1995 novel. It was panned by critics but loved by audiences, though it earned back only $68.3 million of its $75 million budget at the box office.
The Daily Mail said it reached out to Kidman's representatives for comment but did not immediately hear back.
