No-Mascara Makeup: The Beauty Trend Ditching Lashes

A new no-mascara beauty trend favours natural lashes, an eyelash curler and skin-focused makeup for a fresh, modern look.

No-Mascara Makeup: The Beauty Trend Ditching Lashes

A new beauty trend is moving away from bold, mascara-heavy eye makeup in favour of a lighter look that keeps lashes as natural as possible while putting the focus on overall facial freshness. The result is a softer, more modern style that fits easily into everyday routines.

Going without mascara does not mean giving up on the eyes altogether. The goal is to highlight their natural shape without creating strong contrast with the rest of the face. An eyelash curler becomes the key tool in this approach, since a light curl opens up the eyes and makes lashes look lifted without adding any colour.

Skin becomes the focus

Once mascara is removed from the equation, skin, eyebrows and cheek colour take on greater importance. A thin base or a skin tint, concealer used only where needed, and a cream blush in a natural pink or peachy shade help create the fresh look associated with the trend.

Eyebrows should stay brushed and natural rather than heavily filled in. A clear or lightly tinted brow gel is enough to shape them and frame the eyes.

How to try the look

To recreate the trend, the routine starts with good hydration and a light base. Concealer should be used sparingly, with a little cream blush added high on the cheekbones to bring colour and life to the face.

On the eyes, a nude or soft brown eyeshadow can be applied along with a brown eyeliner pencil worked very close to the lash line and softly smudged. This adds depth to the eyes without making the look heavy. Lashes are then curled and left without mascara.

For the lips, a nude-pink lip liner and a clear or lightly tinted gloss complete the look. For an even more natural finish, a hydrating lip balm with a subtle tint is enough on its own.

Why the trend is catching on

This style of makeup suits days when the aim is to look put together without appearing overly done. Skipping mascara leaves more room for the eyes' natural expression, creating a beauty look that feels modern, fresh and easy to wear from morning to night.
