North West has revealed that the most treasured item in her closet once belonged to Michael Jackson, and that it was a gift from her mother, Kim Kardashian.
"I have a Michael Jackson jacket," the 13-year-old said when asked to name her holy grail fashion item, in an interview with Dazed Magazine published August 24. "It was a gift from my mom."
Rick Owens sneakers and a virtual pop star
North also named the pair of shoes she considers part of her most valuable outfit: her Geobasket sneakers by designer Rick Owens, which can retail for up to $8,000 depending on the style.
Asked about other style icons shaping her wardrobe, North, who performs under the name N0rth4evr, pointed to Hatsune Miku, the virtual pop star created by Japanese company Crypton Future Media.
"Hatsune Miku. That's just my twin for real," North said, adding, "Her blue twin tails, of course. That's always the inspo."
Piercings and parental rules
North, who has experimented with grills and piercings as part of her look, said her parents still draw some lines around her self-expression.
"I really want to get my bridge pierced, but I'm not allowed," she said. "They just make you your full self."
Kim Kardashian has otherwise backed her daughter's edgier style choices as North follows in the footsteps of her father, rapper and designer Kanye West, into music. North sported face piercings in a TikTok video filmed in July on the set of the music video for her song "Aishite."

Kardashian, who is also the mother of Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 7, with West, has spoken publicly about why she gives North room to experiment with her appearance.
"I'm like, 'Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is,'" Kardashian said on the podcast Call Her Daddy in 2025. "It makes her so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her."
North's growing public profile
North West has increasingly stepped into the spotlight in recent years, releasing music as N0rth4evr, including the track "PIERCING ON MY HAND," and building a following on social media where she has shared moments from her life, from birthday parties to behind-the-scenes clips from her music videos.
Kardashian, the founder of shapewear brand Skims and star of The Kardashians, has long documented North's milestones publicly, from early childhood photos to her daughter's more recent forays into fashion, music and personal style.
