Olivia Dean has reportedly turned down an offer to headline Glastonbury festival in 2027 to focus on writing new music for her third album. The 27-year-old singer of Rein Me In was offered the opportunity to play at the event, but she is now hoping to perform at the 2028 festival instead.
Her decision to decline the slot has nothing to do with her former love interest Harry Styles, who is heavily rumoured and bookies' favourite to headline the Pyramid Stage. Following his split from Taylor Russell, Styles was spotted on a burger date at Five Guys with Dean in 2024. The pair were never confirmed to be dating and were said to be just getting to know each other while sharing a lot in common.
An insider told The Sun: "Olivia's team had conversations with Glastonbury about headlining in 2027 and she was extremely flattered. But after some reflection, she said she wants to take some time to work on new music next year, with a rough plan to return when her third album is ready."
"Of course, if she did it next year, her name would be right next to Harry's and she just wants to move on from that now," the insider added. "She's happy for him to have his moment, but she doesn't feel like next year is hers." The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Dean and Styles for comment.
Chart record milestone
Last month, Dean and Sam Fender made history after overtaking Bryan Adams to become the longest-running number one single of all time. Their hit duet Rein Me In spent 17 weeks at the top of the Official Charts, hanging on to the coveted summit despite many World Cup anthems climbing up the rankings at the time.
The track surpassed Bryan Adams's iconic song (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, which notched up 16 consecutive weeks at the top in 1991. Fender released the track more than a year ago on his solo album and said watching its success has been "ridiculous" and an "excuse to party."
"Take that, Marti Pellow!" Fender jokingly added. He also credited Dean for the track's success, stating: "Olivia putting the alternative narrative on it made the song really universal - that opened the floodgates. There's two sides to the story. And, it's a toe tapper! It's officially a banger!"

Becca Monahan and Chris Austin, Interim Co-Managing Directors of Official Charts, praised the historical achievement. They said: "Few chart records have stood the test of time quite like this one. For Rein Me In to overtake Wet Wet Wet's iconic Love Is All Around and become the longest-running Number 1 single by a British artist is a fantastic achievement."
