Ukrainian singer Olya Polyakova has shared photos from her wedding for the first time, publishing the archival images on Instagram to mark her 22nd wedding anniversary with husband Vadym Buriakovskyi.
Polyakova and Buriakovskyi celebrated the anniversary on September 11. To mark the occasion, the singer posted the photos from their wedding day on her Instagram account.
For the wedding, Polyakova wore a beige dress decorated with multicolored beads. She skipped a veil, instead styling her hair with flowers.
What Polyakova said about the marriage
Polyakova said she sometimes could not understand how she, with her changeable moods and difficult character, had managed to stay married for 22 years. She said the credit belonged entirely to her husband, describing him as an incredibly reliable person.
She said they had always been friends first, that he had then been like a father figure to her, and only afterward her husband. She added that any anxious girl knows how important it is to have someone beside her who will not bail at any moment, push her away, leave, walk out in anger, punish her with silence or decide to take a break from her, but who will always be present.
The singer added that over the years she had come to understand that the reliability of a loved one was of great value. She said she decided to share the wedding photos to mark what she called the birthday of her family.
She said she simply wanted to show the pictures and to remember.
How the couple met
Polyakova and Buriakovskyi met at a corporate event, where she performed in front of him and his friends. They later began talking and then dating. After the wedding, the couple had two daughters, Masha and Alisa.
Polyakova is a well known Ukrainian pop singer and television personality. She previously said that a former lawmaker had stalked and beaten her.
