Actress Patsy Kensit has revealed she is rebuilding her life from scratch after losing her home and everything she owned in a failed financial investment.
The 58-year-old star, who recently announced her return to the ITV soap opera Emmerdale after 20 years, explained that she suffered complete financial ruin a decade ago when a corporate venture collapsed.
Speaking on Davina McCall's Begin Again podcast, Kensit vowed: "I don't know if it's relatable to anyone but I had my pensions and everything and I was very vigilant about all of that. Then I entered into a corporate thing and I lost, this is 10 years ago, I lost everything. Lost my home. And so I'm having to start from scratch."
Kensit, who was married to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher in the late nineties, admitted: "It was hard but I'm a survivor, I always have been."
Kensit first rose to prominence as a child actress before starring in the 1989 Hollywood blockbuster Lethal Weapon 2 and fronting 1980s pop band Eighth Wonder. McCall is a long-standing British broadcaster who hosts the lifestyle podcast Begin Again, which features interviews on personal transformation and midlife challenges.
Corporate collapse and selling her home
The actress previously revealed that the financial disaster stemmed from a skincare company she had planned to launch into business with, which collapsed overnight.
Speaking to Hello! magazine in 2024, she disclosed: "It all fell through, and I lost everything. There was financial backing and then the CEO had a stroke." She added: "I have always owned houses but I had to sell my home and totally start again. It was brutal, particularly because I have worked so hard and then suddenly I was like: 'Who am I?'"
During an appearance on Hello!'s Second Act podcast in 2025, Kensit explained how she turned her finances around by embracing strict budgeting after years of avoiding her bank accounts.
She confessed that she used to "stick my head in the sand" but has since started writing down all her expenditure. "I've had some terrible sleepless nights but it's what I've learnt," Kensit said, noting the surprising sums she had previously spent. "All I can say from my stance is I'm really fortunate."

Return to Emmerdale as Sadie King
Kensit is now taking on what she described as a "mammoth" amount of work as she prepares to return to Emmerdale, reprising her famous role as the villainous Sadie King.
She previously starred in the long-running ITV serial drama for two years from 2004 to 2006. Producers have promised an explosive new storyline for her character that is guaranteed to shock viewers.
Set in the fictional rural village of the Yorkshire Dales, Emmerdale has aired on ITV since 1972 and remains one of Britain's most popular television soap operas. Network broadcaster ITV operates nationwide commercial channels across the United Kingdom.
Reflecting on her heavy workload, Kensit told McCall: "You just take each day at a time and I do that with regards to my work and the mammoth amount of scripts that I'm learning. I try to just keep it in the day. Tomorrow, who knows?"
She added that memorising extensive script pages has been beneficial: "It's a lot of dialogue, a lot of learning, which is really good actually at my age. Being 58, just that memory muscle and knowing that you can still grab the lines and remember them and also then work on your performance."
Yorkshire welcome and cast reaction
Kensit praised her colleagues on set, saying that everyone "has been so gorgeous to me. To go back and then have cast members that have stayed on the show or had left and then gone back, just to see them again."
She admitted feeling "very, very, very nervous" about returning, but noted: "There's the real truth about the Yorkshire welcome and that is something that I've had in spades going back on the show."
Her return comes amid reports earlier this month that some fellow Emmerdale cast members are quietly fuming over the decision by ITV to fund her comeback while simultaneously cutting existing staff.
The television network has been hit by widespread budget cuts in recent months, driven by changing viewer habits and a broader audience shift toward digital streaming services.
Kensit's former husband Liam Gallagher achieved international fame during the 1990s as the lead singer of rock band Oasis, alongside his brother Noel Gallagher.
