Comedian Peter Kay gatecrashed a live BBC North West Tonight weather forecast on Wednesday, 15 years after interrupting the late Dianne Oxberry on the same regional news program.
The 53-year-old stand-up star was appearing on the bulletin to promote a one-off fundraising gig at Blackpool's Opera House next month. However, he could not resist making an unscripted cameo during the weather broadcast.
As presenter Molly Brewer began her forecast, Kay slowly crept into the shot. The broadcaster acknowledged his unexpected appearance by telling viewers that a yellow weather warning was in force alongside a Peter warning.
Unscripted Interruption During Live Broadcast
Kay assured the presenter that he would remain quiet while standing in front of the map. He then joked about blocking parts of the screen, telling her he was covering Chester and Buxton and adding that residents there would not mind.
When the radar showed heavy rain closing in on the North West, Kay shouted that it was chucking it down and asked if the incoming storm was El Nino. Brewer agreed with the comedian, explaining to viewers that the weather outlook contained even more disruption and could prove chaotic.
