Six Feet Under costars Peter Krause and Richard Jenkins reunited at the 2026 Emmy Awards on Sept. 14, posing together for the first time in years at Los Angeles' Peacock Theatre.
It marked 21 years since the HBO series ended its five-season run in 2005. Krause starred as Nate Fisher, a man who suddenly finds himself running a funeral parlor after the death of his father, Nathaniel Fisher Sr., played by Jenkins.
Krause served as one of the presenters at the ceremony, which was hosted by Mariska Hargitay, and wore a plum tuxedo with a matching shirt and tie. Jenkins, nominated for his work on DTF St. Louis, kept things classic in a black tux, white shirt and black bow tie.
Krause, 61, reflected on what drew him to the role of Nate in an interview with TV Insider in June. "He was leading this compromised life where he really couldn't be himself," he said, "and I think we can all relate to that at different times, when there are the pressures from the outside that make us, out of a sense of responsibility or obligation, make decisions that take us away from our genuine self, and that particular grind in Nate was something that, at that time in my life, I responded to."
Jenkins, 79, only made recurring appearances on the series, but fans of Six Feet Under have still recognized him in unexpected places. "I was at a real funeral once, and somebody tapped me on the shoulder and said, 'Are they filming this?'" he told The Guardian in 2021. "I met a woman at an airport and she was crying. She said, 'Why did you stop that series? Why is this over?' People were passionate about it."
Winners and reunions across the night
The Six Feet Under reunion was one of several notable moments at this year's ceremony. Noah Wyle won his second straight Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series trophy for The Pitt, with his wife, Sara Wells, by his side. David Harbour took home supporting actor in a limited or anthology series or movie for DTF St. Louis.
Jean Smart picked up her fifth lead actress in a comedy Emmy for her role as Deborah Vance on Hacks, her eighth Emmy overall, edging out fellow nominees Lisa Kudrow and Elle Fanning. Rhea Seehorn won her first Emmy for lead actress in a drama for Pluribus, beating out nominee Carrie Coon. Shailene Woodley won guest actress in a drama for Paradise, and later reunited with her Big Little Lies costar Nicole Kidman. Kate O'Flynn also won an Emmy on the night, pictured afterward with Matthew Rhys.
Zendaya received another nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama, this time for Euphoria, alongside The Testaments' Chase Infiniti, though neither won. Ayo Edebiri and Quinta Brunson also went home without new statues, though the three actresses have four Emmys between them from previous years. Hacks' final season was recognized among its supporting nominees even as the show was overshadowed by wins for Widow's Bay.
Elsewhere, Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz reunited two decades after Buffy the Vampire Slayer, while Zendaya was photographed alongside Gary Oldman and Tom Holland. Beef, the Netflix anthology series, went winless on Emmy night itself, but its second season had already claimed three trophies at the Creative Arts Emmys the previous weekend.

Kaley Cuoco was seated between her fiance, Emmy winner Tom Pelphrey, and his Task costar Mark Ruffalo. Colman Domingo, of Euphoria, was seen sipping a mini Ketel One Family Made Vodka martini at the bar. Widow's Bay producer-director Hiro Murai and his partner, Emma Barrie, were photographed by The Witcher's Anya Chalotra, while Love Story's Sarah Pidgeon was caught enjoying the evening's dinner.
