American hip-hop star Post Malone has scrapped his upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand and dropped out of the Strummingbird festival. The 31-year-old artist has called off all scheduled Australian performances, while his single planned date in New Zealand is also unlikely to proceed.
Although the tour is currently reported as postponed rather than cancelled, no replacement dates have been announced. Malone was scheduled to arrive in Australia in October for what would have been his first live performances Down Under in three years.

The chart-topping singer was set to bring his cheekily named BIG ASS World Tour to Australia and New Zealand, performing seven shows across capital cities and regional centres in what was billed as his largest tour of the country to date.
The decision to delay the tour follows an earlier announcement from Malone that he was pushing back his wider international schedule to finish new music. In a statement shared to his Instagram Stories earlier this year, the musician admitted the timing was not quite right.
Tour Itinerary and Ticket Details
The Down Under leg was scheduled to kick off in Melbourne on October 9 before moving through Ballarat, Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle and the Sunshine Coast, with a final stop in Auckland.
The inclusion of regional stops in Ballarat and Newcastle alongside major capital stadiums marked a broader reach for the global superstar. Strummingbird, a country music festival with 2026 dates in Newcastle, Ballarat and the Sunshine Coast, has now lost its headline act.
Tickets for the concert series went on sale on May 26. It remains unclear what plans have been made to refund ticket holders.
Malone has spent over a decade dominating global charts with hits including Sunflower, Rockstar and Circles, while successfully reinventing himself as a modern country crossover star. During his last Australian tour in November 2023, the hitmaker embraced local customs by performing several shoeys, a traditional party custom of drinking from a shoe, at his inaugural concert.

Engagement to Christy Lee
The tour update comes shortly after positive news in the musician's personal life. Malone proposed to his on-off girlfriend Christy Lee earlier this month, 14 months after the couple split following several months of dating.
The Grammy-winning rapper, whose real name is Austin Post, proposed with a large diamond ring. Close friends announced the engagement on social media, posting photographs of the newly engaged couple kissing and hugging.

The couple were seen together again at the Khaite fashion show in February this year after their split last year. Their reunion has now been taken to the next level with a wedding on the horizon.
