British Princess Eugenie, the younger daughter of former British Prince Andrew, has given birth to her third child, a daughter, in Lisbon, Portugal, according to a report by the Daily Mail.
The niece of King Charles III and her husband Jack Brooksbank announced the arrival on their social media page. They stated that they were very happy to announce the birth of their daughter Brooksbank and added that they loved their baby girl madly.
The baby was born in a hospital in the Portuguese capital on the evening of August 3. Buckingham Palace confirmed the news in a welcoming message, specifying that the girl was born on August 3 at 18:20.
Royal succession and family details
The newborn is a potential heir to the British throne and takes 15th place in the line of succession. Her birth moves the Duke of Edinburgh Prince Edward to 16th place.
She is the couple's third child. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank are also parents to two sons, five-year-old August and three-year-old Ernest.
Legal troubles of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor
Princess Eugenie's father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, faced years of allegations involving the sexual abuse of minors. The most prominent case involved Virginia Roberts-Giuffre, who stated she was forced into sexual acts with him when she was 17 years old.
Faced with a court summons that would require testimony under oath, Andrew agreed to pay Roberts-Giuffre 12 million pounds sterling to avoid interrogation. The scandal led to his removal from duties as a senior royal family member and the loss of most of his titles and ranks.
He voluntarily gave up his title of duke prior to the publication of Roberts-Giuffre's memoirs. Andrew was subsequently arrested following the publication of correspondence involving Jeffrey Epstein.
