The third season of the Ranma 1/2 anime remake will premiere exclusively on Netflix on October 3.
Netflix announced the release date through its official anime account on social media platform X. The upcoming season will stream exclusively on the service as part of its autumn lineup.
The streaming platform currently hosts two seasons of the animated remake. Each episode runs for approximately 24 minutes, following the format established when the first season landed on October 5, 2024.
Netflix has not announced the total number of episodes produced for the third season.
Story premise and cursed springs
The story of Ranma 1/2 centers on protagonist Ranma and his father, Genma. During a training journey in China, the pair fall into the mystical cursed springs of Jusenkyo.
The incident triggers a surreal curse where cold water transforms Ranma into a girl and turns Genma into a giant panda. Splashing hot water over themselves restores both characters to their normal states.
Manga origins and video games
The anime series is based on the original manga created by author Rumiko Takahashi. Her original story also inspired multiple video game releases across several gaming consoles.
Notable gaming titles include the fighting game Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System and the visual novel Ranma 1/2: Toware no Hanayome for the PC Engine CD.
The franchise later transitioned into three dimensional gaming on the original PlayStation console with the fighting title Ranma 1/2: Battle Renaissance.

Although Netflix is not exclusively dedicated to anime content, the platform has developed a diverse catalog featuring classic series, original productions, and modern remakes.
The remake achieved popularity among both long time fans of the original series and new viewers discovering the franchise for the first time.
The third season will bring the series back to subscribers at the start of autumn on October 3.
