Screenwriter Zak Penn has confirmed he is continuing work on "Ready Player Two," the sequel to "Ready Player One."
Penn co-wrote the original film's screenplay with author Ernest Cline. Steven Spielberg's first film, released in 2018, earned $582 million at the worldwide box office. The sequel is based on Cline's novel of the same name, published in 2020.
Spielberg's role and release plans
Spielberg confirmed in 2024 that he would produce the second film but would not direct it. A graphic novel adaptation of "Ready Player Two" is planned for 2028. The film's release date, cast and director have not yet been announced.
