Jordi Gasull and Javier López Barreira, linked to the first two installments of the ‘Tadeo Jones’ saga, sign the script for the entertaining ‘Momias’.
Although less is said about it, our animation productions are also part of that magnificent and varied harvest of Spanish cinema which, in long and short film format, wins international prizes and recognitions. ‘Mummies’, whose action captivates you from its first minutes like any live action movie, is a good example of this. Characters with meat, that appeal to the emotions of the spectators according to their ages, frames, camera movements and artistic direction worthy of any adventure film, and something essential, a very ingenious script (the shopping trip of the mummies to the department stores inspired by London’s Harrods is memorable), with winks for adults and childrenby Jordi Gasull and Javier López Barreira, linked to the first two installments of the ‘Tadeo Jones’ saga.
It weighs a bit that the chosen formula is too mimetic of the musical model with the Hollywood stamp. On the other hand, a success is that professional dubbers have been used for the characters and not stars with voices that are sometimes so recognizable that they tend to take you out of fiction.
Ideal for parents who want to go to the movies with their little ones without getting bored
The best: a hectic pace that does not decline until the end.
The worst: the nefarious habit of the post-credit scene.
