Review of ‘The Snow Leopard’, a documentary in the highlands of Tibet

PFirst, the data: filming in Tibet, at 5,300 m, in search of animals as exotic as the Tibetan antelope, the manul, the wild yak or, above all, the ghostly snow leopard. More information: Vincent Munier, co-director of the film, is perhaps the greatest living nature photographer. And Sylvain Tesson, travel writer and, here, something like the pediment against which Munier launches his thoughts on the relationship between man and nature, has closely followed the photographer’s trajectory for a long time.

With these wickers, an extraordinary patience and an ability to withstand extreme temperatures and adverse conditions, the trio Amiguet, Munier, Tesson embroiders a simply unbeatable documentary, of overwhelming beauty, which is, above all, a reflection on how we humans live at this point in civilization. Or in other words, which are Tesson’s: To the everything already of modern epilepsy opposes the surely nothing, never of the stalking.
