Actor Roman Kurtsyn described a dangerous incident with a snake while filming director Alexei Alferov's movie "Malysh-Karatist" (The Karate Kid), in comments cited by aif.ru.
The film includes a scene where Kurtsyn's character, a martial arts instructor, kisses a live cobra, meant to show the character's standoff with the antagonist. The footage did not make the final cut of the movie.
Cobra tried to bite him
Kurtsyn recalled holding the cobra as it opened its hood, and said photos of the moment are on his social media. The snake then twisted around and tried to bite him. He managed to pull his hand away in time, but the snake's saliva landed on his skin.
Kurtsyn said he still felt unwell afterward, with his temperature rising to nearly 40 degrees Celsius, and doctors had to give him an antidote. He described violent chills before the symptoms quickly passed, and said he no longer wants to kiss a cobra.
In "Malysh-Karatist," a 12-year-old Moscow boy named Sasha, who struggles to control his emotions, moves to Pyatigorsk to stay with his aunt while his doctor parents work abroad. Bullied at his new school, he finds support in a karate class after learning his parents have gone missing.
