Hollywood actress Salma Hayek has celebrated becoming a grandmother for the first time following the birth of a baby boy to her stepson, Francois Pinault Jr., and his wife, Lara Cosima Henckel von Donnersmarck.
The 59-year-old Oscar-nominated star shared her delight with her 30 million Instagram followers on Monday, posting a video of herself holding the sleeping newborn.
Hayek revealed that the newborn child represents "the fourth living generation of Francois" in the family, while sharing that her affectionate nickname for the baby is "Panchito."
"He seems to love it, and I cannot love him more," Hayek wrote in her caption accompanying the heartwarming video.
In the clip, the Mexican-born star is seen holding the baby boy in her arms as he smiles and giggles in his sleep. Hayek gently speaks to him in Spanish, asking, "What are you dreaming?"
Family celebrations and baby photos
The announcement follows a series of family updates shared on social media by the newborn's mother. Last week, Henckel von Donnersmarck posted photos on Instagram documenting "our first month as parents."
In her caption, the new mother paid tribute to her husband and newborn son, writing: "my husband (the world’s coolest françois) and our son( the world’s cutest françois)."
The shared photographs captured several family moments, including one picture of the Wild Wild West actress holding Panchito on her chest while his father lovingly looked on.
Another image showed Henckel von Donnersmarck smiling in a white dress while cradling her son, alongside photos of Francois Jr. feeding the infant from a bottle and changing his diaper.
The baby news comes after Henckel von Donnersmarck announced her engagement to Francois Jr. in March, following around one year of dating. The newlyweds have not publicly revealed when they tied the knot.
Blended family and motherhood
Hayek has been married to 64-year-old French businessman Francois-Henri Pinault, the chief executive of luxury group Kering, since 2009. Together, the couple share an 18-year-old biological daughter, Valentina.
In addition to Francois Jr., Hayek is a stepmother to Pinault's two other children from previous relationships: Augustin, 19, and Mathilde, 25.
The star has previously spoken openly about her gratitude for her blended family after initially hoping to have several biological children.
Speaking to Red magazine in 2017, Hayek reflected on her path to motherhood and the bond she built with her stepchildren.
"I’ve had that yearning, that longing, and that pain," Hayek said in 2017. "I always wanted to have a lot of children, and I was not able to. My body, as a miracle, had one."
"The huge blessing I’ve had is that my husband has three other children," she added. "So I have four. And they are all so different."
Upcoming film release
Alongside her family news, Hayek is currently preparing for the US theatrical release of her upcoming feature film, Without Blood.
The drama is a cinematic adaptation of Italian author Alessandro Baricco's novel, directed and produced by Academy Award-winner Angelina Jolie.
In the film, which explores themes of trauma, revenge, and reconciliation in the wake of an unspecified conflict, Hayek plays the role of Nina. She stars alongside actors Demián Bichir and Juan Minujín.
Without Blood is scheduled for cinematic release in the US on September 18.
