Coronation Street star Sam Aston's pregnant wife Briony showed off her baby bump at a Mum & Me event in Cheshire on Monday, ahead of the arrival of their fourth child.

Aston, 33, who plays Chesney Brown in the ITV soap, is already a father to son Sonny, five, and daughters Daisy, four, and Hazel, two, with Briony. The couple confirmed the pregnancy in a social media post in May.

How the pregnancy was announced

Sam and Briony announced their baby news in May with a video showing their children being dragged across the floor by their father, with Hazel holding the unborn baby's first ultrasound pictures. They captioned the post: "Here we go again... Baby Aston #4."

A Christmas tree emoji at the end of the caption suggested Briony will give birth over the festive period. Followers flooded the post with congratulations. One wrote: "What a great way to announce it. Congratulations to you both." Another added: "Oh my goodness this is soooo exciting!!! Congratulations." A third wrote: "Aww amazing massive congratulations to you all."

Briony's work as a birth doula

Briony works as a birth doula, a non-medical professional who offers physical, emotional and informational support to expectant parents during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period.

The professional dancer donned a denim midi dress and sandals for the occasion

Following the pregnancy announcement, she confirmed she would be scaling back her work commitments ahead of the birth. She told her Instagram followers: "Now we've announced our news to the world, you can see why I've closed my books for mid-October onwards for in-person doula support."

"I've been at a couple of births whilst heavily pregnant in the past, and I've found it's just not practical with a huge bump, plus I'll need some time to protect my headspace in the lead up to my own birth," she said, adding: "Doulas need to birth prep too!"

The couple married in May 2019 at Stock Farm, a venue on the edge of Tatton Park in Cheshire.

Briony welcomed the couple's eldest child, Sonny, six weeks prematurely in 2020. Sam has said his wife spent nine days in hospital while their son recovered from jaundice.

Speaking to OK!, Sam said: "It was a bit of a shock for me. Everyone at work knew he wasn't due until September." Briony added: "It was hard at the time but looking back now I'd do it all again tomorrow. It was so nice to get home though."
