Spanish actress and presenter Paula Echevarría has lost her father, Luis Ángel Echevarría, who died unexpectedly at the age of 76. Journalist Sara Carbonero, a close friend of the actress, has publicly offered her comfort.
Echevarría shared the news through a social media post that included a video of her dancing with her father. Alongside it, she wrote that she has the heart broken and that she will never be the same again. She said she would think of him every day of her life, that she would talk to him and ask him to hold her. "Don't ever let go of me, dad," she wrote.
The video revealed the depth of Echevarría's pain and moved her followers. Numerous friends from the entertainment world responded with messages of support, and among them, Carbonero's words stood out for their warmth. She wrote that she was hugging Echevarría tightly and told her friend not to doubt that her father would be with her, and that she would notice it.
Carbonero's own recent loss
Carbonero has also been open on social media about keeping her own mother close in her thoughts. She lost her mother, Goyi Arévalo, on 12 April after a long and serious illness, a loss that gave her a particular understanding of Echevarría's grief. Where Carbonero was able to accompany her mother through a prolonged illness, Echevarría had to say goodbye to her father suddenly.
In her message, Carbonero added further words meant to comfort her friend through the loss. She said there is always an after, even if things are never quite the same, and told Echevarría that she loved her very much. She closed the message with a red heart.
Carbonero is a well-known Spanish journalist and television presenter who spent years as a sports and news anchor before becoming one of the country's most followed media figures. Echevarría, for her part, built her career as an actress on Spanish television series and has more recently worked as a presenter and social media personality. The two have long been part of the same circle of friends within Spanish entertainment.
A summer overshadowed
The loss has overshadowed what was expected to be a particularly special summer for Echevarría's family. Her daughter, Daniella, whom she had with singer David Bustamante, turns 18 on 17 August.
Speaking during her attendance at the Starlite gala, Echevarría had said her summer plans included spending several days in Marbella before finishing her holidays in her beloved Candás, in Asturias, where she was due to reunite with her parents. That reunion was not able to happen.
