American singer Selena Gomez has asked a court to dismiss fraud allegations against her involving Wondermind, the mental health company she co-founded.
Lawyers representing Gomez submitted a petition seeking her removal from an investor lawsuit that claims nearly 1.2 million dollars was fraudulently solicited for the venture. The lawsuit was filed two weeks ago by several investors against Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and businesswoman Daniella Pierson.
According to the plaintiffs, they invested in Wondermind after receiving information about company projects that did not reflect its actual financial condition. The investors claimed they were told about major initiatives, including a mental health application, advertising deals, and celebrity collaborations, before the company encountered undisclosed difficulties. The legal action includes claims of securities fraud, common law fraud, and breach of contract.
Investor lawsuit and fraud allegations
Gomez has denied all liability in the case. Her attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, told industry outlet Rolling Stones that the allegations against her were completely unfounded and called the suggestion that Gomez committed fraud or illegal conduct absurd. Rosengart added that the defense team was examining legal remedies for Gomez, including seeking sanctions against the plaintiffs for improperly naming her in the proceedings.
Wondermind was established as a mental health media and resources platform designed to provide support tools and content for emotional wellness. The company had previously experienced internal and operational difficulties beginning in 2025 before facing the current court proceedings.
Defense arguments and management role
The primary argument presented by the defense is that Gomez was never involved in the operational management of Wondermind. According to her legal team, the artist backed her mother, invested in the business, and held a minority financial stake, but did not direct day-to-day operations.
Rosengart stated that Gomez did not communicate with the plaintiffs, did not participate in securities offerings for Wondermind, Inc., and was not in a position to control company communications or actions. Operational management was handled by Teefey and Pierson, who served as co-chief executive officers and members of the board of directors. Gomez served as a consultant and held the title of chief impact officer.
The legal dispute remains ongoing in court, where a judge will determine whether the claims brought by the investors hold merit.
Release of new Spanish track
Alongside the legal developments, Gomez has released a new single titled Te Olvido (La La), collaborating with singer Becky G and producer Benny Blanco. The track marks a return to Spanish language singing for Gomez, featuring Latin dance rhythms and energetic production.
Blanco, who is married to Gomez, told Mexican publication Caras México that the collaboration came about after Gomez heard the track in progress, praised it, and agreed to join when asked. Blanco expressed appreciation for working with his wife, describing her as highly talented and noting her Mexican heritage and deep connection to Latin music.
