Sid Wilson has been kicked out of Slipknot after nearly 30 years as one of the band’s longest-serving members, according to a new report.
The DJ and keyboard player, 49, was told on Friday that he has been permanently removed from the Grammy-winning heavy metal group, an insider close to the band told TMZ. The reason for the fallout has not been disclosed.
Wilson joined Slipknot in early 1998 as the ninth member, completing the band’s now-iconic lineup. He was known for wearing gas-mask-inspired designs and high-energy stage antics, including dives and climbing venue structures.
A Shrinking Classic Lineup
If the reported departure is confirmed, only four members of Slipknot’s classic nine-person lineup will remain: vocalist Corey Taylor, percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan, and guitarists Mick Thomson and Jim Root.
The group’s lineup has changed significantly over the years. Bassist Paul Gray died from an accidental drug overdose in 2010. Drummer Joey Jordison left in 2013 and died in 2021. Percussionist Chris Fehn was dismissed in 2019 following a legal dispute over compensation. Keyboardist Craig Jones exited in 2023 under circumstances that have never been publicly explained. Drummer Jay Weinberg departed in November 2023, with the band saying at the time that they had decided to part ways.
A Difficult Year Personally
The reported ouster comes during an already difficult year for Wilson. He and Kelly Osbourne announced their separation in March, seven months after he proposed to her backstage at a Black Sabbath concert in Birmingham in 2025, in front of her family, including her late father Ozzy, mother Sharon, and brother Jack. Osbourne later said she had no idea the proposal was coming.
Wilson and Osbourne, who first met 27 years ago, share a three-year-old son named Sidney. Sources told the Daily Mail that Osbourne has had a difficult time coping with the separation while also grieving the loss of her father.
A source said Osbourne and Wilson had been facing relationship challenges for some time and tried to make things work for the sake of their child before deciding that separating was the best path forward. The source added that Osbourne remains sober and is focused on her role as a mother.
