Spider-Man: A New Day Grosses $1.4 Billion Globally

The superhero film Spider-Man: A New Day has grossed more than $1.4 billion at the global box office since its worldwide theatrical release on July 31. The movie has now surpassed Marvel Cinematic Universe hits Black Panther, which took $1.34 billion, and Deadpool & Wolverine, which earned $1.33 billion.

Earlier in its run, the movie recorded the best opening in US theaters and reached $500 million domestically in the fastest time in history. Analysts who previously expected the picture to finish its run at $2 billion now say it could reach that milestone within days.

Plot and International Release

The story follows Peter Parker four years after the events of No Way Home as he continues protecting New York City from crime. Although those close to him have completely forgotten he exists, a series of new crimes brings one of the most dangerous enemies of his life to the city.

The picture will launch unofficially in Russian movie theaters on August 20.
