Netflix’s animated spin-off Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 is getting a second season before the year is out, with sources close to the production saying the new episodes are expected to arrive just before Halloween 2026.
The show premiered on Netflix on April 23, 2026, with limited cinema screenings five days earlier. Set in the winter of 1985, between seasons two and three of the original series, it follows Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max alongside new characters. Netflix had already committed to a second season before the first one launched.
Showrunner Eric Robles said the new season would return to Hawkins and the Upside Down and introduce a fresh supernatural threat. The first season drew mixed critical notices but connected well with audiences, partly due to its fidelity to the original show’s tone. None of the original live-action cast returned for the animated version.
