Opera singer Nathan Vale is in intensive care with severe injuries after being struck by a speeding car while cycling through London.
The English National Opera soloist was travelling to a scheduled performance at the historic Temple Church on Sunday, October 18, when a vehicle travelling at high speed rammed into him. Emergency medical teams attended to the musician before airlifting him to a hospital by helicopter.
Vale suffered multiple fractures across his body, including broken bones in both legs, an arm, a collarbone, and several ribs. He remains in an intensive care unit under round-the-clock medical observation, according to a report by news agency Need To Know.

Following the crash, friends and colleagues organized a fundraising campaign to assist the singer and his family. Supporters said the appeal was necessary because his severe injuries mean he will be unable to return to the stage for the foreseeable future.
Police investigation and support appeal
Police in London have not yet reported any arrest of the motorist responsible for the collision. Investigators have not released further details about the vehicle involved, and inquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
The fundraising drive aims to give the family direct financial support during Vale's treatment and rehabilitation. As an active classical soloist who performs in live opera and choral productions, the singer relies on upcoming engagements for his livelihood, all of which have been halted by his hospitalization.
Acclaimed career in baroque opera
Vale is regarded as one of Britain's leading tenors, particularly admired for his work in the baroque repertoire. He completed his musical training at the Royal College of Music in South Kensington, London, before studying at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School. The elite programme provides advanced training for opera performers preparing for international solo careers.
In 2006, Vale achieved national recognition when he won the prestigious London Handel Singing Competition. He secured both the competition's first prize and the audience prize, an annual classical music award that celebrates vocal works by the German-British composer George Frideric Handel. The double victory helped establish his standing among British choral and opera societies.
Over his career, Vale has performed across a wide range of venues in the United Kingdom and abroad, including appearances at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. On the day of the crash, he was travelling to perform at Temple Church in central London. The 12th-century church, located off Fleet Street, is famous for its choral recitals and sacred music services.
Vale remains in intensive care while doctors monitor his condition. Organizers of the fundraising campaign continue to gather donations to assist his family throughout his recovery.
