French actress, director and screenwriter Valerie Donzelli has arrived on the red carpet at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival wearing a luxury evening gown with a plunging neckline reaching down to her navel.
Donzelli, who was appointed president of the jury for the festival's Horizons competition section, appeared in a gown designed by Italian luxury fashion house Alberta Ferretti. Photographs from the event were published by media outlet Page Six.
The evening gown featured numerous ruffles layered across the skirt and a deep V-neck cut. Donzelli completed the red carpet ensemble with a gold Cartier panther pendant worn as a centerpiece accessory.
Horizons jury role and career
Donzelli is an accomplished figure in contemporary French cinema who has built a career as an actress, director and screenwriter. She received international acclaim for her film Declaration of War, which screened at the Cannes Film Festival and was selected as the French entry for the Academy Awards.
As president of the Horizons section jury at Venice, she leads the panel responsible for evaluating new artistic trends in global cinema. The Horizons category operates alongside the main competition, focusing on innovative feature films, debut works and independent directors.
The fashion house behind her gown, Alberta Ferretti, is a premier Italian luxury label renowned for delicate draping, classic evening gowns and red carpet designs. Donzelli accessorized her look with a piece from Cartier, the legendary French high jewellery house famous for its signature panther motif introduced more than a century ago.
Festival lineup and major premieres
The 83rd Venice International Film Festival is taking place from September 2 to September 12. Founded in 1932 on the island of the Lido in Venice, Italy, it is the world's oldest film festival and remains one of the major annual gatherings in international cinema alongside Cannes and Berlin.
This year's festival features a range of highly anticipated film premieres from prominent directors. The program includes Ink by British director Danny Boyle, Wild Horse by filmmaker Martin McDonagh, Fucking Bastard by German auteur Werner Herzog, and Look Back by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda.
