Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards are coming to Imax.
Through a partnership announced on Thursday, the two biggest events in the video game industry will be broadcast live in the US, Canada and the UK.
“Video games are the world’s most powerful, immersive and spectacular form of entertainment, so it’s only natural for fans to bring them into Imax, the world’s most immersive film format,” said Jeff Kilim, curator and producer at Summer Game. party . Game rewards.
Summer Game Fest, a showcase of digital events from top developers and publishers from around the world that kicked off in 2020 amid E3’s cancellation due to a pandemic, will take place on June 9 in Los Angeles. It will be co-produced by Day of Devs, Double Fine Productions and iam8bit, and will feature innovative indie games.
The Game Awards ceremony, marking the year for the Best Studio and Indie titles and a preview of upcoming games, will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles in December.
Imax broadcasts events on the company’s LIVE network, which currently has 50 markets in the US.
