The Long Island man pleaded guilty to two counts of stabbing and evading Nicki Minaj’s father in 2021.
At a hearing in Nassau District Court on Friday, Charles Polevich pleaded guilty to falsifying evidence at the crash site and falsifying evidence of an accident in February 2021, court records show.
Polevic will return to court in August to serve his sentence. According to his lawyer, at the hearing the judge received a prison term of not more than one year.

“Mr. Polevich’s life story is about helping others, which is what characterizes this case,” said Ghana. “Polevich couldn’t have more regrets over the loss of Mr. Marage.”
Maraj was on his way to New York, Mineola, on February 12, 2021, when he was hit by a driver. He died the next day at age 64. The following week, police announced that Polevic had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraji, didn’t speak publicly about the incident until May 2021, when she posted a message on her official website saying it was “the most devastating loss of my life”.
“I want to call him constantly myself,” Minaj wrote at the time. “Especially now that he’s gone. Life is so much fun. His soul rests in heaven. He was very loved and I miss him so much. ”
