Succession season four premieres March 26, 2023 on HBO; series creator revealed what the last phase will be
One of the most acclaimed series of HBO in the last years, Succession already has an end date. This because Jesse Armstrongcreator and showrunner of the production, revealed when the series will end – and it’s closer than you think.
During an interview with The New Yorker, armstrong explained how the fourth season, which debuts on HBO on March 26, 2023, it will be the last. “I got together with some of my fellow writers before we started writing year four, around November, December 2021, and I said, ‘Look, I think maybe this should be it. But what do you think?'” remembered.
“And we created different scenarios: we could do a few short seasons or two more seasons,” continued the executive. “Or we could go on for a long time and turn the show into something very different, and be a more lean, freewheeling kind of fun show where there are good weeks and bad weeks.”
Or we can do something a little more complete, and come out kind of strong. And that was definitely always my preference.
The award-winning cast of Succession has names like Nicholas Braun (Greg Hirsch), Brian Cox (Logan Roy), Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy), Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans), Alan Ruck (Connor Roy), Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy), Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy), J. Smith-Cameron (Gerri Kellman), between others.

The sale of the media conglomerate Waystar Royco for the technology visionary Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) is getting closer and closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential anguish and family division between the roys, as they anticipate what their lives will be like when the deal is completed. A power struggle ensues as the family considers a future in which its cultural and political weight is severely reduced.
