The Night Manager : a masterpiece of espionage worthy of James Bond
In the 1950s and 1960s, David John Moore Cornwell worked for MI5 and MI6 – two intelligence services considered the best in the whole country. It is thanks to this extraordinary professional experience that he finds the favorite subjects of his books. To publish them he takes a pseudonym that will be the one that the general public knows to this day: John Le Carré.
With his spy novels set in the context of the Cold War, the writer differs from the novels James Bond by more complex, tormented and less action-oriented characters. This style, much more realistic, appeals to its audience who will love it Call of the Dead, Mole, Like a College Kid, Smiley People or also The spy who came in from the cold.

Above all, the author’s works attract the attention of audiovisual productions. Therefore many of his novels have had film and television adaptations. Among them, we will keep The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, The Russian House, The Tailor of Panama, The Constant Gardener, The Mole, A Wanted Man, A Perfect Spy or also… The Night Manager. Airing between February 21, 2016 and March 27, 2016, the miniseries follows Jonathan Pine, a former British soldier turned night manager at a luxury hotel. One fine day he is contacted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to investigate Richard Roper, a dangerous arms dealer who turns out to be one of the guests of this hotel.
The 6 episodes of The Night Manager they were very successful. The miniseries also had a 5-star cast: Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman, Elizabeth Debicki, Tom Hollander, Tobias Menzies, David Harewood, Antonio De la Torre or even Aure Atika.
A season 2 is finally coming!
Seven years later, writer David Farr is expected to return to write this season 2, as he did for the previous season. More great news, second Expiration, Tom Hiddlestion will reprise his role as Jonathan Pine. While we thought the actor was overbooked for MCU projects, it looks like he has some time to come back The Night Manager. Finally, this new miniseries will be co-produced by the BBC and Amazon. This means that Prime Video subscribers will have the joy of having access to this season 2.
As for the plot, it will take place in the present day and follow the events of the previous season. We will therefore find Jonathan Pine who, informed of the death of Richard Roper two years ago, will once again have to face a deadly challenge. For the moment, no release date has been made official for this season 2. Filming will begin later this year in London and South Africa, among others. Remember that season 1 of The Night Manager received a plethora of figurines, between his three Golden Globes and his two Emmy Awards. We hope that this new season will be equally qualitative.
Pending The Night Managerwe can find in another series just as expected in streaming: season 2 of Loki.
