This new fight makes them travel from London to the Samoan Islands. Eiza González, Helen Mirren, Cliff Curtis, Eddie Marsan and wrestler Roman Reigns complete the cast of this blockbuster that defies the laws of gravity and the regulations on the ingestion of steroids.

“The Black Superman”

In a scene fromHobbs & Shaw, Brixton introduces himself as “the black Superman”. Asked by variety in 2019, says Dwayne Johnson the opening line evoked a “black James Bond”. But due to the many rumors announcing him as a potential successor to Daniel Craig, Idris Elba would have asked to change it, not wanting to continue fueling speculation, sometimes violent criticism and racist comments directed at him.

The Brixton interpreter assures variety That the famous “black superman” joke was born spontaneously :

This line was improvised. (…) It came out and David Leitch loved it, so we kept it.

Producer Hiram Garcia explains for his part:

Idris Elba just pitched it. He was cursing, he took her out and we were like, ‘That’s amazing!’ (…) We are so happy that the fans have reacted.

Two versions contradicted by Dwayne Johnsonwhich claims the authorship of this line:

Everyone loves the “Black Superman” joke. Everyone takes credit for it: Idris, our director, our producers, I’m sure Jason too… But I found it. I said, “How about the black Superman?” And everyone said, “Great!”

In the process, Idris Elba insists he’s the source of this famous punchline and thathe doesn’t want to hear anyone say otherwise. Definitely, between the saga Fast & Furious and oversized egos, it’s a love story that lasts…
