Skin: Ralph Fiennes, John Litgow, Stanley Tuch, Isabella Rossellini join the conclave

Ralph Fiennes has signed on to play the role. ConclaveGerman director Eduard Berger’s conspiracy thriller about the Pope (Patrick Melrose, Germany ’83).

John Lithgow, Stanley Tuch and Isabella Rossellini will also star in the film, which is produced by House Productions and FilmNation Entertainment with support from Access Entertainment.

According to Robert Harris’ bestseller of the same name, Conclave This comes at a secret Vatican meeting with Catholic cardinals gathered in Rome to elect a new pope. Fiennes plays Cardinal Lomel, tasked with overseeing cardinals who come from all over the world to join the conclave. But as political machinations in the Vatican intensify, Lomel realizes that the outgoing pope was keeping a secret from them that he had to reveal before choosing a new pope. Lithgow will play Cardinal Tremblay, the Cardinal will play Cardinal Bellini and Rossellini will play Sister Agnes.

Peter Straugan (Tinker, tailor, spy soldier) Adapts Harris’ book for the screen.

FilmNation is handling international sales and will present the project to buyers at Cannes Film Market next week. FilmNation exercises US rights with CAA Media Finance.
