In addition to publicly saying that he asked for changes in the Wandinha, Jenna Ortega now revealed how he turned down starring in the original series Netflix several times. In addition to TV, the actress stood out in theaters with films like Scream 6 (2023) and X – The Mark of Death (2022).

During an interview with The Timesthe actress was asked if she was actively pursuing the role in the series of The Addams Family. “No, I didn’t,” she admitted. “I got the email, I passed it on. I’ve done so much TV in my life, film is all I ever wanted to do. When I started acting, I don’t want to say nobody believed in me, but nobody believed in me.”

You need to prove yourself. It’s only been in the last three or four years that I’ve been able to start working in film. I was afraid that by subscribing to another television show it might prevent me from doing other jobs that I really wanted and cared about.

Then, Jenna Ortega explained the reason that made her finally accept Wandinha: “The only reason I came back is because Tim [Burton, diretor e produtor executivo do seriado] is a legend, and we happen to get along really well. But I still said, ‘Oh no – I think I’m fine,’ a couple of times.”

Already participating in the podcast Armchair Expert (via The AV Club), presented by Dax Shepard, the actress commented on how she did not expect the production to be watched by many people. For Ortega, it would be “a little gem that anyone will find,” but it became a worldwide hit.

In the podcast, the artist also stated how Wandinha “is not my proudest moment internally” and that she does not “want to be specifically known” for the series.

You start to feel a bit like a billboard, and there’s a part of me that has almost succumbed to that commercial version and kind of given up on my own personal interests.
