gluttonous : half human, half animal
Adapted from Jeff Lemire’s comic book series of the same name, gluttonous landed on Netflix in June 2021. The release of this post-apocalyptic series therefore seemed timely for the streaming service as its context bore some similarities to an era where the COVID-19 pandemic was still in full swing.
Thereby, gluttonous takes place in a future where almost all humans have been decimated by a mysterious virus. The only survivors are a half-human, half-animal hybrid race that is beginning to emerge. It is in this context that Gus is born, a half-man, half-deer child who lives in hiding with his father, far from a collapsing civilization. However, in his tenth year, his quiet life is turned upside down when he finds himself hunted for who he is. Then he meets Tommy, a lonely marginal with whom he befriends. It will be the beginning for Gus of a search and the discovery of a totally new and frightening world for him.
We recall that the series supervised by Jim Mickle is co-produced by the Downey Jr. couple: Robert and Susan. After the success of the first season, the series has been renewed for two more seasons.
Season 2 is revealed
The end of the first season gluttonous had left us on a Gus held by the last men. While incarcerating him, she found hybrid mates like himself. In fact, the latter would be humanity’s last hope because they would have the antidote to the virus in them.
The first pictures of gluttonous season 2 then shows us how Gus and his friends try to escape. On the other hand, Tommy will do anything to try to free Gus. Only all these little people will have to deal with the abominable abbot general who intends to achieve his goals…
Season 2 of gluttonous will be available on Netflix from April 27th.
