Onoda: 10,000 nights in the jungleThe Caesar Award-winning WWII epic that landed on the sidewalk at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, Un Certain Regard, has found a home in the United States.
Dark Star Pictures has acquired the North American distribution rights to the film and now plans to release it in theaters in Fall 2022, starting in New York and Los Angeles before expanding nationwide. The film will be released on-demand, on digital platforms and on Blu-ray later this year.
Written and directed by French filmmaker Arthur Harrar, who received the César for his original screenplay and based on real events; Onoda: 10,000 nights in the jungle It follows Hiroo Onoda, a 22-year-old Japanese intelligence soldier who was sent to a small island in the Philippines, where he would spend 30 years without realizing the war ended 10,000 nights ago.
