Apple Podcasts will allow third-party hosting providers to upload shows directly to the platform this fall, a move designed to make it easier for Apple to upload podcasts and encourage more creators to get a subscription offer from the company.

Currently, podcasters must use the Apple Podcasts Connect dashboard to submit their shows for review, adding one more step for developers who distribute their content across multiple platforms. A new feature called ‘Delegated Delivery’ of Apple Podcasts will allow developers to allow their hosting provider to publish free and/or paid subscription content on Apple Podcasts.

For starters, third-party providers include Acast, ART19, Blubrry, Buzzsprout, Libsyn, Omny Studio, and RSS.com, providers that offer premium subscription for 80% listening to Apple Podcasts, according to an Apple Podcasts representative, through from the company. Trying to bring in additional vendors this fall.

It should be noted that Spotify-owned services such as Anchor and Megaphone have yet to sign up for the launch.

Other features released on Monday include an annual subscription plan for Apple Podcasts and an iOS 15.5 update that lets listeners customize their memory and download preferences for each podcast they listen to.
