The Exorcist: David Gordon Green takes on another legend

After offering a second youth to Michael Myers with his trilogy Halloween, director David Gordon Green tackles another monument of genre cinema. Indeed, he has decided to offer a sequel in the form of restart to William Friedkin’s classic The exorcist. As for Halloweenit will be a trilogy that should ignore the other sequels as well as the series released in 2016.

Also produced by Blumhouse, this new film (simply called The exorcist for now) will follow a father (camped by Leslie Odom Jr.) who sees his daughter become possessed by a demon. He will then try to do everything to help him, which will lead him to cross paths with Chris MacNeil, Regan’s motherstill played by Ellen Burstyn.

Is Linda Blair back?

The media Above the line hints that Regan’s portrayer Linda Blair will return in the new film. According to their information, she should only be a brief appearance because she would only be present on set for a few days. A return that would make sense, given that Ellen Burstyn will assume the role of her mother.

The actress (now 64) was last seen as Regan in 1977 in The Exorcist 2: The Heretic.
