Heat 2 : Michael Mann back in business
Since its release in 1996, Heat it is often cited as a reference to a crime film. His jokes, his cult scenes, his direction of actors and his iconic duo Robert De Niro/Al Pacino… So many elements that make it probably Michael Mann’s greatest masterpiece.
A few years ago, the director mentioned a sequel project. Things have picked up speed recently with the release of the novel Heat 2 which Michael Mann wrote with Meg Gardiner. The story takes place in different periods. There is the post-robbery of Heat, in 2002, with Chris Shiherlis (Val Kilmer) still trying to evade the police by leaving the country. And the front, in 1988, in Chicago, where McCauley sets up his team of robbers. Right now, we also follow cop Vincent Hanna (Al Pacino) in his early career.
This paper version of the story, also available in France, could be transposed to the screen. This is at least the wish of Michael Mann who, in July 2022, said he was confident in the development of this project, going so far as to declare that he wanted to “a great movie“.
Adam Driver as young Neil McCauley
Since then the news has continued to go in this direction Expiration just announced that the project Heat 2 it would be good in discussions with Warner Bros.. Negotiations are said to be ongoing and will go”in the right directionIt must be said that the novel by Michael Mann and Meg Gardiner is a success, reaching number one on the New York Times bestseller list last August.
Furthermore, the production would already have an actor targeted for one of the film’s lead roles. Would beAdam Driverwho could take the place of Robert De Niro playing Neil McCauley in his youth.

Adam Driver would make a great first recruit. He would also like to say that the comedian convinced Michael Mann on the set of his next film, Ferrari, in which he played the lead role of Enzo Ferrari. That bodes well for these two highly anticipated projects, though all of that has yet to be confirmed by Warner and/or Michael Mann.
