So how do we learn variety, another Targaryen prequel is currently in the works on HBO’s side. And it’s about the period the most exciting from the work of George RR Martin.
Aegon’s Conquest soon on our screens?
Indeed, Variety suggests that the US channel is currently in the midst of developing a prequel game of Thrones about Aegon the Conqueror. If this name is not unknown to you, it is because it has particular importance in the history of Westeros. In fact, Aegon Targaryen first of the name made a conquest at the end of which it became the first king of the Seven Kingdoms, and forged the famous Iron Throne. Year zero in the Westeros calendar also begins the year of Aegon’s conquest.
Aegon’s conquest, aided by his two sister-wives Visenya and Rhaenys, lasted nearly two years and marked the beginning of the Golden Age of the Targaryen family. To take the Iron Throne, Aegon had to win many epic battlesincluding the Battle of the Field of Fire between Aegon’s and Lannister’s armies, as well as the destruction of the gigantic fortress of Harrenhal, engulfed in flames by Balerion the Terror, the largest dragon ever seen in Westeros. For their part, Visenya and Rhanys also rode two huge dragons: Vhagar (which we saw in House of the Dragon) and Meraxes (slated to appear in Season 2).
