Netflix announces the remake of the classic The wages of fear
It is one of the greatest films in the history of French and international cinema that will be entitled to its remake, 70 years after its triumphant theatrical release. Indeed, director Julien Leclercq, who continues his association with Netflix after two feature films (earth and blood, Sentinel) and a series (Thieves), will direct a new film The wages of fear. Released in 1953 with Yves Montand, Charles Vanel, Folco Lulli and Peter van Eyck, co-written and directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot, The wages of fear is an insufferable, violent and satirical adventure thriller, and a major critical and commercial success. Thriller model, thus stands out in 1953 from Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film FestivalFrom the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival the same year and BAFTA for best film in 1955.

Its synopsis is as follows: Four men agree to transport, at the risk of their lives, a load of nitroglycerin along five hundred kilometers of rough roads. The sheer size of this dangerous double-it-or-break-it is the only way out of the Central American village they’re stuck in.
It should also be noted that The wages of fear has already had two remakes. Violent road by Howard W. Koch and especially the monumental The Convoy of Fear by William Friedkin.
A very muscular cast for the remake
Julien Leclercq directs on this occasion a casting made up of two figures of French action cinema, in its comic and more serious dimension, with Franck Gastambide and Alban Lenoir. They are notably surrounded by Ana Girardot and Sofiane Zermani. The first preview of the film seems to indicate that the three actors and the actress will play the four protagonists, drivers of trucks loaded with nitroglycerin. This remake will be available in 2024.

Julien Leclercq has a big project there, for which he has declared himself ready to give everything:
Bringing these talents together around the reboot of such a film, for worldwide distribution with Netflix, forces me to put all my heart and courage into it. The ambition is immense.
