HBO Max goes Max: Here’s everything you need to know about the “new” platform

Discovery of Warner Bros officially announced the rebranding of HBO Max: The streaming platform will relaunch on May 23 under the name of max.

The “new” platform will combine HBO Max’s existing programming with Discovery+ to create a single, over-the-top platform. Despite this merger, Discovery+ will remain active as a standalone app so as not to harm existing subscribers who are only interested in Discovery content.

The CEO of Discovery of Warner Bros David Zaslav he explained that the exclusion of the word “HBO” from the name was aimed at broadening the image of the platform. In fact, Max, in addition to hosting the contents of the well-known cable channel, will present the products of various intellectual properties of Warner Bros. Discovery, such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, DC Comics, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Animation, Warner Bros. TV, Discovery, Information, Sports and more. Zaslav also promised that Max’s app will be more powerful and reliable than the current HBO Max app.

Among the products currently announced for Max we find the reboot of Harry Potteran adaptation that promises greater fidelity to JK Rowling’s books, The penguinspin-off series of The Batman, Rick and Morty: The Anime, The Sympathizernew series with Robert Downey Jr., a spin-off of The Big Bang theory and much more.

In the United States, Max will present three bundles: Ad-Lite Plan at $9.99 per month, advertising subscription and 2 simultaneous streams in HD; Ad-Free Plan at $15.99 per month, ad-free subscription, with 2 simultaneous streams and the ability to download up to 30 content at a time; and Ultimate Plan at $19.99 per month, ad-free subscription, with 4 simultaneous streams in 4K with HDR and Dolby Atmos and the ability to download up to 100 content at a time.

In the United States, the Max will launch on May 23, 2023. No launch is currently planned in Italy.
