Sarah Bahba’s New Film “My First Healthy Love Story”

Prior to making this film, Bahbah gained a following on social media (1.1 million Instagram subscribers) for his series of beautifully shot cinematic photo shoots depicting love stories that didn’t last long. Bahba’s first short film, however, represents a departure from previous projects. This is “my first healthy love story”, says Babahi hollywood reporter. “For the past seven years, I have been writing heavily from a place of pain and suffering, and I have really relied on my art as a way to heal my experiences and traumas.”

The new film is the result of a change in his own life. “Last year I started a relationship with this beautiful, honest, kind and loving man and developed a very intimate love relationship and felt quite healthy. “I wanted to be able to challenge myself to write out of love rather than pain,” said the director-photographer.

Bahbah says he wrote the film’s script by hand in a magazine in Los Angeles Park, the city he calls home. Many of the lines he wrote ended with numbers, including a specific way to visualize and calculate heart vulnerabilities. “Essentially, I got some numbers,” he says. He describes the overall idea of ​​the film as “I want to engage in saying the ambivalent desire, ‘I love you’ first, but the fear of rejection. I call it exposure of the heart.”

The photographer and director shot the entire short film in two half-day takes in January in Baroque decor in the palace known in bridal rental areas as the Villa Palisades. He finished post-production in two weeks.

Bahbah, who recently signed a deal with M88 and UNCMMN to represent and previously direct three music videos for Kygo, appeared in an art gallery a few years ago. But in 2017, he adopted a different model in which he directly contacts fans of his works through his Instagram account.

“I started representing myself and I just released a limited edition and they started doing really well,” Bahbach said. It should be noted that he has set what he calls “pay what you can” at a price range of $50 to $300 per copies. “I realized I had a lot of low-income followers, students and students, and there was a lot of demand: ‘Please make your art more accessible?’ I really want it on my wall. “It was my solution: I gave everyone more opportunities to collect my art,” said Bahbach, who is of Palestinian and Jordanian descent and grew up in Australia.

Bahbah, who also runs creative agency Pos, says the most satisfying part of making his short film was that “I was able to challenge myself and develop myself as an artist because when you trust pain and suffering, it can be very exhausting.” .
