Supreme Actor + 1883 Everyone agrees: none of them would have made it.
The group met via Zoom to THR gifts Conversation (supported by Vision Media) Reveal new details about complex fabrication yellow stone previous theater. During the discussion, Tim McGraw (James Dutton), Faith Hill (Margaret Dutton), Sam Elliot (Shea Brennan), Isabel May (Elsa Dutton) and Lamonica Garrett (Thomas) were asked if they thought they would survive the traitor’s trail. Oregon. How their characters were filmed on the show.
“In the first flower meadow I saw three days after the trip, I said, ‘This is a good place here,'” McGraw said. “It just came to our attention then. I don’t think it would make it to the end, of course.”
“I would open a store in Fort Worth and name it today,” agreed Garrett. “It’s as good as anywhere else.”
“There were some people [who worked on the show] “Who really wanted to do this hike, but I wasn’t one of them,” Eliot said.
“I think we all quickly realized it wasn’t weakness,” Hill agreed. “We had a lot more respect for those who survived this journey, we just had no idea what they were going to face and we also didn’t know exactly where they were going and what it would be like. ”
The actors shouldn’t have imagined the difficulties the way they liked. Actors have long endured the harsh elements of filming a series set in the desert of Texas and Montana.
“The cold was the worst,” McGraw said. “I can handle the Louisiana heat. “But when it snows and snows and the wind blows, the cold, the horses speed up, you have to remember the ropes and hand them over and not shake. That was the hardest part for me.”
“Everyone suffered, on all sides of the chamber, everyone who was there,” Eliot said.
“The Montana vibe has gotten into you, no matter what you have,” Garrett said.
“Add to that the cool 1883 corset!” says the hill. And then try to go to the bathroom. We became very close friends during the first week of shooting. All bets are off. If you have to go, go find a tree and do it.”
“It was dust to me,” says May. “Dust got into my lungs and I had bronchitis the last week of shooting.”
During the hour-long interview, the actors discussed a wide range of topics and burst into tears as they discussed the tragic fate of several of their characters. McGraw and May filmed in detail (spoiler warning) their disastrous final scene, Hill realizing that one of his character’s decisions could have killed Elsa, Garrett realizing what it means to play a black cowboy in a genre that traditionally serves fewer people of color. McGraw and Hill considered working together as a real couple under such harsh conditions and the group revealed their favorite lines from the series.
“The big payoff is that we did something special and people responded,” Eliot said. “It’s been a long time since a good western period was made. And I don’t think such a truth was meant to bring out so many truths. He brought a completely different reality to this genre.”
