Stranger Things season 5 on hiatus
All good things come to an end. After four seasons to follow the young heroes of Stranger thingsNetflix’s flagship series will end with season 5. They will face Vecna one last time as the world turned upside down partially devoured Hawkins after a frightening duel in season 4 released last summer.
But goodbye to Eleven and the whole gang may be rejected because of the new large-scale strike movement of screenwriters currently held in Hollywood.
In fact, since May 1st, thousands of American screenwriters, working for the cinema or for series, ceased their activity. This strike action follows unsuccessful discussions between the studios and the powerful writers union, the WGA (Writers Guild of America).
The screenwriters ask for it in particular a salary increaseand better working conditions. Two issues in particular are at the origin of these disputes: the work for the streaming platforms which would have deteriorated, and the absence of sufficient guarantees regarding the future use of artificial intelligence for writing the scenarios.
This large-scale strike movement leads to delays in the study schedule, be it movies or TV series. And the fifth season of Stranger things is directly affected.
The Duffer brothers have in fact confided Chirping that pre-production of new episodes was suspended during the strike. Filming, which was supposed to start in a few weeks, is indeed rejected. They hope that an agreement will be reached quickly between the WGA and the studios to be able to continue the work.
What is the Season 5 release date?
Stranger things season 5 was supposed to arrive in 2024 on Netflix (summer or fall). We understand it with this message from the Duffer brothers the release date may be delayed if filming is delayed, which appears to be looming with this growing strike.
