You’ve probably heard that certain foods have negative calorie content – and deplete your own body stores, contributing to weight loss. However, it is dangerous to rely on this effect: on the contrary, it can cause the appearance of extra pounds!

Pineapples, peppers, celery, apples, cucumbers, cabbage, carrots… The list of negative calorie foods goes on and on. Of course, all these vegetables and fruits contain a certain amount of calories. They began to be referred to as “negative” due to the effect of thermogenesis: when the body expends more calories for digestion than it receives from food. As a result, we get a calorie deficit, which leads to weight loss.

Not a single list of products allowed during weight loss can do without negative calorie foods. Also, it is to them that it is recommended to snack during the day: after all, among other things, vegetables and fruits contain a lot of fiber, which helps to feel full.

To speed up the weight loss process, some girls try to eat as many “negative” foods as possible. For example, replace them with a side dish of cereals and potatoes. Or eating too many carrots and cucumbers in the evening instead of dinner.

Alas, losing weight is not an easy process, fraught with many pitfalls. And the uncontrolled snacking of seemingly harmless foods is one of the main dangers on the way to a healthy and beautiful body.

“The insidiousness of ‘negative calorie foods’ is that they are consumed in kilograms, and because of this they shamelessly stretch the stomach. And over the years, it loses its elasticity and no longer shrinks to normal sizes. As a result, people are forced to overeat in order to have a feeling of fullness in the stomach – one of the most important saturation factors, ”explains endocrinologist Zukhra Pavlova.

Also, there is no protein in these products. Their lack in the diet is known to negatively affect muscle mass and fat burning. So it is much more correct to prepare negative calorie foods not as a base, but as a supplement to all meals. That’s why they exist!
