In 1997, director Peter Cattaneo (The Circle of Songs) arguably makes his best film with The Full Monty. Led by Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy or even Tom Wilkinsonthe feature film tells how a group of unemployed friends decide to devote themselves to striptease to earn a living.

Moving and good-natured social comedy, The Full Monty East nominated 4 times for the Oscars and start with the Statuette for the best music for Anne Dubley. At the box office, for a very small budget of $3.5 millionthe feature brought nearly 258 million dollars in worldwide box office receipts.

26 years later, the Full Monty returns in a series created by Simon Beaufoy and Alice Nutter. A show that will be available from the month of June 2023 on Disney+.

Authorized The Full Monty, the series will tell how, 26 years after the events of Peter Cattaneo’s film, our heroes struggle to live in Sheffield in a sluggish economy. Thanks to their collective efforts and their profound humanity, they will then find absurd, poetic and inventive solutions to triumph in the face of adversity of our modern society.

Robert Carlyle, Mark Addy, Lesley Sharp, Hugo Speer, Paul Barber, Steve Huison, Wim Snape and Tom Wilkinson all return to this series. New faces will also appear such as Talitha Wing who will play Gaz’s daughter, Paul Clayton who will play Lomper’s husband or Miles Jupp who will play a recently divorced man and fervent admirer of the crew.

Original film screenwriter, Simon Beaufroy is the creator, showrunner and executive producer of the series along with Alice Nutter. THE 8 episodes of the seriesdirected by Andrew Chaplin and Catherine Morshead, will be available in June 2023 on Disney+.
