Fast X will be the first chapter of the final trilogy, Vin Diesel announced the twelfth film

Fast Xthe tenth film in the saga of Fast and Furious kicks off the finale of one of the most legendary and popular movie franchises. But there is a change of plans. The eleventh chapter of the saga will not be the last, in fact Fast X will start a trilogy that will end with the twelfth chapter.

This was revealed by Vin Diesel on the occasion of the world premiere of the film held last Friday in Rome. “Before making this film, the studio asked us to tell this story in two parts.” said the actor, and then continued: “but after they saw this first part, they asked us to make Fast X a trilogy“.

Here’s the video of the announcement:

With many challenges and against impossible obstacles, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family outwit, outwit, and outwit any enemies they encounter in their path. Now they face the deadliest enemy they’ve ever faced: a terrifying threat that has emerged from the shadows of the past, fueled by revenge, determined to destroy family and destroy everything and everyone loved forever.

In 2011’s Fast Five, Dom and his team take down notorious Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and destroy his empire on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. What they don’t know is that Reyes’ son Dante (Aquaman’s Jason Momoa) witnessed it all and has spent the last 12 years hatching a plan to make Dom pay the ultimate price.

Dante’s plan is to push Dom’s family from Los Angeles to the catacombs of Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. New alliances will form and old enemies will return. But everything changes when Dom discovers that his 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry, Black-ish) is the ultimate target of Dante’s revenge.

Directed by Louis Leterrier (Clash of the Titans, The Incredible Hulk), Fast X stars the historical cast, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, Jason Statham, John Cena and Scott Eastwood, along with Academy Award® winner Helen Mirren and Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron.

The film adds a stunning new cast, including Academy Award® winner Brie Larson as Tess, a disloyal representative of the Agency; Alan Ritchson (Reacher) as Aimes, the new head of the Agency who does not have the same sympathy for Dom’s team as his predecessor, Mr. Nobody; Daniela Melchior (Suicide Squad) as a Brazilian street racer with strong connections to Dom’s past; and legendary Oscar® winner Rita Moreno as Abuelita Toretto, Dom and Mia’s grandmother.

Fast X is produced by Neal H. Moritz, Vin Diesel, Justin Lin, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Samantha Vincent. Executive producers are Joseph M. Caracciolo, Jr., David Cain, Chris Morgan, Amanda Lewis and Mark Bomback. Fast X will arrive in Italian cinemas on May 18, 2023.
