He created his foundation “Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research” in 2000, in which he is heavily involved. Since then he has been extremely rare in film, mostly doing voice dubbing, but still appears in television series. Finally, the disease is gaining ground, he announces his retirement in 2020.

And this decision was confirmed by a sequence of Once upon a time…in Hollywoodas he explained to the magazine Empire.

“I can’t remember anymore”

The scene from the Quentin Tarantino film referred to by Michael J. Fox is one of the highlights of Once upon a time… in Hollywood. The one where Rick Dalton, during the filming of an episode of the series Throw awayEast unable to remember his dialogue and goes crazy in his trailer. A situation that Michael J. Fox experienced while filming the fourth season of The Good Fight early 2020.

I thought “Once upon a time… in Hollywood”. There’s this scene where Leonardo DiCaprio’s character can’t memorize his dialogue. He goes back to his trailer and screams at his reflection in the mirror. This is completely crazy. I had this same moment, in front of the mirror, to say to myself: “I can’t memorize anymore”.

But unlike the character played by Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael J. Fox explains that this revelation was a moment of peace :

I thought, “That’s it, let’s move on.” I was at peace with this situation.

A strength of character and courage to match the talent of Michael J. Fox: Huge.
