great things are coming Thor: love and thunder, the latest installment in the film saga of the fan-favorite Marvel hero. Following the events of ending of the Avengersthe character will embark on a journey of self-discovery that will bring him into conflict with Gor the God Butcher (which was finally revealed in the latest trailer) . And on top of that, veteran Avenger will be reunited with his ex-girlfriend, Jane Foster, who is now worthy of wielding Mjolnir. Details on the specifics of Jane’s story arc are kept under wraps, but director Taika Waititi has shed some light on how she handled it. He also discussed whether the heroine would become the new main god of thunder.
Jane Foster’s superhero alter ego has won more than a few fans since her debut in 2014, and many may wonder how true Taika Waititi has stayed true to her comic book history. The always nice Waititi talked about it during an interview with our sister site, Full movie . And Marvel Comics fans will likely be happy to hear what the New Zealand director has to say:
We got very fond of Jane’s story and what happened to her … because that had a huge influence on the film. We try to make the most of it.
The plot from which the director draws is the one established in Jason Aaron’s run on Thor. The veteran comic writer has determined that Jane Foster became the God of Thunder after Odinson became unworthy to wield Mjolnir. What’s even more interesting is that Foster was also battling breast cancer at the time, and her new abilities were actually hampering the effectiveness of her chemotherapy. although the love and thunder the rudder did not specify if the cancer arc came into play it could be assumed that there is a strong possibility that this is the case, as it has apparently remained “close enough” to the establishment.
However, the bigger question has to be whether or not the astrophysicist turned superhero will become the MCU’s main Thunder God in the future. This is a good question, especially considering that many veteran heroes are being replaced by newcomers. But if you’re someone who thinks OG Thor is passing the baton here, you may want to slow down, because Taika Waititi doesn’t see it this way:
And besides, it’s really funny, the idea that Thor [has] he has Stormbreaker, that big ax, and now his hammer is back and he’s in someone else’s hands. It is no longer your hammer. It’s the idea that someone else takes your place. I think a lot of fans could potentially assume, “Oh, okay, that’s the handover” … I’m not aware of any Marvel plans for the future, but I don’t think that’s the case.
It can handle the cinematic universe two Thor ? More likely. However, I bet it will take some time for the two to truly coexist harmoniously. The director had previously teased him Jane’s return will shock the Veteran Avenger . According to the new trailer, he will have to deal with her new position and understand her romantic feelings for her. Hopefully all of this results in an emotional story that will give fans lots of love and thunder.
Jane Foster’s MCU storyline probably won’t follow Jason Aaron’s to the letter, but I would never bet against Taika Waititi’s abilities as a storyteller. And while the new hero’s future is uncertain right now, I’m willing to bet that whether or not he replaces his ex-boyfriend forever, this film won’t mark the last time we see him.
