Here’s what Katey Sagal told Gossipify about her latest experience in the world of fake blood:

No, I don’t think I’ve ever worked with so much fake blood. I mean, we had fake blood on Sons of Anarchy. Although I was pretty roughed up in Sons of Anarchy … but there wasn’t as much blood as bruises, so yeah. No, I think it’s most of the blood I’ve ever worked with. I think it is absolutely the truth.

Before continuing, I need to configure broken hearts finish a little more. Those of you who have seen the film can consider it a refresher course. However, if you haven’t seen Brea Grant’s tragic horror thriller, consider yourself forewarned. From now on it comes deep spoilers.

Long broken hearts, we see Katey Sagal’s Harper tortured by his past. By killing her sister after a disagreement, she becomes a recluse and lives alone in the decades following this murder. When the young duo of Jordan (Abby Quinn) and Leigh (Alexxis Lemire) visit, it’s one of Harper’s few interactions with the outside world. and awakens something in her. Her competitive drive and her tough foreman attitude are part of the picture, which ultimately pits Jordan and Leigh against each other.

Which brings us to the peppery conclusion broken hearts, as Harper pitted Jordan and Leigh against each other. In a gunfight between Harper and Jordan, the young woman shoots her idol to death. Soon after, Leigh shoots Jordan, securing the “story” her career really needs to get off the ground. Straddling the tragedy, a shocked Jordan shoots at Leigh, causing one final barrage of blood.

It looks like a lot, and you see broken hearts this only confirms the huge amounts of blood involved. Director Brea Grant is no stranger to goring her, having talked about it while she shot her previous films. Lucky Yes 12 hour shift it involved quite a lot of red stuff. However, when I spoke to her in another interview, Grant revealed something she had experienced in one of the Halloween movie which exposed her to what was probably her bloodiest experience:

Oh no. I do not think so. I mean, I’ve been an actor in a lot of horror movies for ten years and then I’ve been shooting and directing horror stuff. I mean, I’ll say I’m in Rob Zombie’s Halloween II and I’ve been killed by [Michael] Myers. I would guess it could be most of the blood, because she was wearing a corset designed to draw blood. But in the film it’s so dark that you don’t see it. But I’m covered in blood in this movie and you have no idea.

Plagued with bloodshed on both sides of the camera, the talented Brea Grant directs the bloody and heartbreaking finale to broken hearts To great effect, guiding stars like Katey Sagal and Alexxis Lemire through this tide of red liquids flying through the air, she is a champion at working with the image of life escaping tortured souls. Supporting this claim was none other than Lemire herself. Previously, she made a name for herself as one of the rising stars of Alice Wu’s pseudo-autobiographical novel half of that provides the final section of this gory tale:

So I’ve worked with fake blood before, but not on myself personally. it was interesting, really great, really captivating. But no, the whole final scene was a convoluted scene to shoot, just because, as you know, there are a lot of moving parts. But yeah, fake blood is, spoiler alert, really sticky … especially when it’s all over you, it’s everywhere. Everywhere. I had to shower on set when we were done, so it was. You get sticky from head to toe in places you never want to be sticky.

Perhaps the icing on the cake of this whole story involving those horrible final moments broken hearts This is another thing that Lemire points out in his account of this day of shooting. The bloodshed was as methodical as you might think, and it probably worked in Alexxis Lemire’s favor, as well as everyone else. As he reveals below, there has been a countdown to this bloodbath, which makes the end result even more impressive:

Note, I have had a chance to do this. petrifying. I remember shivering because I didn’t want to go bankrupt. I was like, ‘Aah!’ … When we got hit, everyone was cheering and we were really excited because we were like, ‘Ah! We made it!’

A shot of country music bloody glory is all of that broken hearts he needed to put a violent button on his story. As the wing-like drawing of blood flies from Leigh’s back, the tragic fate of our main trio is sealed. Carrying home the message of how women are pitted against each other in a male-dominated industry, the one song recording that Harper, Jordan and Leigh have recorded falls into the hands of a male singer, giving him ” the story “to do So. a breath.

Indeed, it is women’s dedication to broken hearts who in the end wins. Thanks to a bloody ending, everyone involved in making the film got a chilling but bittersweet ending that ends this horror show on a suitably low note. The film is currently available for rent or purchase on VOD, with other Blumhouse / Epix collaborations in progress.
