A loud noise during a light boxing match at New York’s Barclays Center on Saturday left fans panicking, fearful that there could be an active shooter situation. However, this was a false alarm.

According to the Associated Press, noise was heard outside the exit and security guards held several fans in one area for a while until they deemed it safe to leave. It is not known what the noise was.

Tennis star Naomi Osaka was among the irate fans at the Barclays Center. He wrote on Twitter and posted that he was “petrified”.
“I heard screams and saw people running. We then yelled that he was an active shooter and that we had to enter the room and close the doors. I was such a (petrified) man,” the four-time Grand Slam. He wrote the champion on Twitter. Shortly after, he added, “I really hope everyone has handled it well because as I write on Twitter, we did everything right.”
I was in the center of Barclays and all of a sudden I heard screaming and I saw people running, then they yelled that it was an active shooter and we had to go into the room and lock the doors, I was such a petrified man.
